Made in Kenya. Made to go further.

Pure Purple creates contemporary leather footwear, bags and accessories in Nairobi, Kenya.

We believe African-made products should confidently compete anywhere in the world.

How it started

Pure Purple was founded by Yolanda Odida, a Nairobi-born finance professional who spent more than 12 years working across Africa and Europe before moving into entrepreneurship.

Her question was simple:

Why should Africa export its raw materials and import the finished value back?

That question changed Pure Purple from an importing business into a locally made brand.

The piece that changed everything

One of Pure Purple’s first locally produced products was the Adero sandal.

Customers kept returning for the same design in different colours. Yolanda says around 60–70% of Adero customers own three or more colourways.

It taught us something important:

We don’t need to make everything. We need to make the right things well.

Designed for longer

We choose materials and designs with longevity in mind.

Our work includes leather, water hyacinth, reusable components and recycled or upcycled packaging.

Our philosophy is built around three things:

People. Planet. Profit.

All three need to work together.

From Kenya to the world

Pure Purple is proudly made in Kenya, but it is not made only for Kenya.

Our ambition is to build products here that feel relevant in Nairobi, Cape Town, London, New York and beyond.
